You can get NFS to work if you have the right software. There is 3rd party stuff and MS stuff. Not that it comes with Win2k by default. The easiest way to do filesharing from a Linux/Unix box to Windows machines is via Samba. Why you'ld even consider NFS is beyond me. Later Greig McGill wrote:
Is NFS available for Win32 platforms?
BTW - not wanting to even THINK about starting a flame war, but what are these "certain constraints"? If we don't know, we can't help! :)

What about NFS exports from Windoze machine? Particulary one that can map usernames on the Unix side (via a NIS server) to Windoze users on a
Windoze
domain controller and properly preserver permissions on both Unix and Windoze sides.
And no doubt I'll get swamped with responses saying use Samba. I should point out that I consider Samba to be a very much less than ideal solution due to certain constraints it has. I would much prefer to avoid that route. Actually (and I hope he's not reading this list) I wish our
Windoze
sys admin would install a decent OS on the rather nice server with raid array he got for us. Too bad he crippled it with Microsloth.
Anyone tried Unix Service for Windoze on a Windoze machine? How do you
get
it to work if you don't have access to the primary domain controller?
