Anyone intending to show, the tech demo for Yo Frankie (project apricot) released not quite a week ago, its a project being worked on by blender and crystal space. Its intended to be an open-source game to compete with commercial games. Im no "gamer" but im impressed by the effort and am now downloading said demo for a look.

Hi, I'll be talking about blender, and Big Buck Bunny for the graphics presentation. I'm no gamer either, so thanks for mentioning, hadn't planned on talking about it. I'll go grab the demo and check it out, and give it a mention. I've made some Big Buck Bunny dvd's to hand out, I'll burn a couple copies of the frankie demo also in case anyone wants one. Yes. The more different Free Software we can show the better! There is nothing else quite as good for easily creating scientific and other documents just the way you want them. I was thinking of including a very brief showing of LyX after the Open Office Word processing and spreadsheet presentation which is scheduled for 11am, but had decided not to, because I found the Windows equivalent is a bit tricky to install (a few years back). I didn't want to promote anything that would run people into trouble. Did you find it reasonably easy to install on Windows now? Would you happy for people to ask you for help on installing and getting started? I could show LyX briefly, and if you can be there by about 11.15 I can say that the Windows equivalent is running on your machine for anybody who is interested. If you can't be there till later I can say you will show it later. Bring it along anyway if you can. It all helps to add interest. Roderick Aldridge

Hi I found it really easy to install under xp (that said, i will do it again tonight to be sure i am up with the play), they are both complete packages, and the only dependences are that winshell needs MiTeX, winshell provides a fairly nice interface for writing up documents as well, it has come a way from doing writing tex up in VIM!
