Hi guys, When I was just a newbie (still am) I got Redhat linux unleashed [kit] / Kamran Husain, Timothy Parker. 1996, from the library here in Hamilton. It's a big book with a cd. It was fine and dandy until I took it back and the lady noticed that the cd was cracked... I don't know how, but it is. So I was wondering if any one has a copy of the cd or knows where to get one cheap as they want me to pay $100 for a new set. I just tried to send an attachment, picture of the cover but its got to get moderated. RH 9, running squid and Dan's Guardian. How to block port 80? Students are bypassing squid and getting strait out to the net. IPchains was set up originally, but has lost it settings and know does not want to work. If your internet router is a Cisco 831/837 or upwards, you could implement WCCP (WCCP is in the Wiki Pages). WCCP is not supported on the 827, 806 or downwards. That would then mean that if the students are bypassing the proxy, they would still be going through the proxy. Why are mny people using the WikiWord for a Wiki page on the page itself? For example the COBOL page has four [COBOL] links it it. I can't see the point. Wiki for beginners

Hi everyone, I've been doing some tidying up of the Wiki (our web site) lately, with reference to the comments about beginners being lost. The home page has been rearranged so that it's (hopefully) a bit more obvious where to start. The sidebar has been shrunk a bit too (thanks Perry) so that the backlinks are more prominent. This way, you see not only what the current page links to, but what other pages link to this concept; a really good way to learn what connects to what in the world of Linux. I'd like to encourage anyone who thinks they qualify to look at http://www.wlug.org.nz/NewToLinux, and add suggestions/hints/whatever they need to get the information that you want to hear, on the wiki. (People normally add what they learn, which is why there's a lot about the newer things, but not as much about learning from the ground up, because most of the regular authors did that many years ago.) As a note, debates that are off topic for the mailing list might very well be on topic on the Wiki; please remember however it is another public face of the incorporated society so standard graces need apply.
