I got this piece of information from my usergroup back home. Could helpful for us ? <quote> The Feb 05 issue of Linux Format (LF) has an announcement that they will ship a box of Linux technical books (and some software) to LUGs that send information about themselves to LF - and LF will include information about the LUG in a future magazine - the offer is open to LUGs overseas. They are interested in about 200 words on the user group, and if possible include a photo of a meeting or event (kind of hard to do with a virtual group though). LF will also announce future events by the LUGs in future editions of the magazine, if they receive the information early enough. The offer for free technical documentation is good while the books last. On a personal note, I receive Linux Magazine and Linux Format each month (here in Hanoi) and each issue includes a DVD of current Linux software. If anyone is interested, I would be glad to share copies of the Linux DVDs and CDs that I have. Hula.

Anyone had any experience with Hula (www.hula-project.org) It looks like it could be a "very good thing". Novell are doing some good things... They seem to be embracing the whole Open Source idea really well. They're not even coming up with their own esoteric licenses. Hula is LGPL/MPL.... Anyone else had problems with this update? Following last night's update to this version, GRUB no longer boots. Screen says "GRUB" and goes no further. GRUB is on my slave disk, and I normally boot via Windows loader on master. I suspect that the boot sector on the slave drive has been modified ... the windows loader runs a copy of the that sector (copied following the upgrade to Fedora Core 2). This is the first time I've had this problem after an update. Here is the release information for that kernel - note the bit about hanging!! It does mention it for SCSI but I note a couple of things: - Serial ATA uses SCSI code in some instances - 2.6.11 release candidate 4 has support for blacklisting some problematic Serial ATA drives - mostly Seagates... Red Hat Enterprise Linux 4 released today; see http://www.redhat.com/promo/rhel/apac if you're interested in going to their NZ launch on March 2 in Auckland. CentOS-4 RC1 is due later today :) Novell have also released Hula (http://www.hula-project.org/) an open source offshoot of Novell's NetMail with calendering added on. It looks like the missing Exchange killer that we've all been waiting for. Craig

Hi I'm trying to set up a pop server using qmail and vpopmail on my gentoo box. I've never set up a mail server before so I followed the howto on the gentoo home page. After setting up qmail I sent test emails and was able to retrieve them with mutt, I then set up vpopmail as per the instructions and then tested using kmail and got the following error - Could not read file The server said: "Can't open the message file - it's gone!". The status bar says there are 11 messages and this number increases to correspond with the number of test emails i send, but i am unable to view the messages. Anyone got any ideas what could be up?? I have emailed the writer of the how to and will post any reply I get Troy
