Cool that you got featured there. Hope it helps you make a living. :) Good critique of NC. And quite an impressive roll call of staff <http://nzcommons.org.nz/about/>, including several from NZ universities (Waikato among the list). And I see they license the site under CC-BY as well. I like your point about taxpayer-funded material. This is one thing the US Federal Government gets right: everything they produce/pay for, that might be copyrightable, is automatically in the public domain. For one example, this is why the whole world gets the free use of those lovely NASA pictures. Other space agencies may produce nice pictures as well, but it is mainly the NASA ones that we see.
