Hi everyone, Well the subject line says it all... There was an update yesterday that came in for Ubuntu Netbook Remix (9.10). Downloaded, installed, rebooted, and now I just get dumped into Grub. Immediately before the Grub screen comes up, it quickly flashes something that MAY be the words "Try hdd(0,0) NTFS". Then I get the sh:grub> prompt. OK So I don't know anything about Grub or what I'm doing in it. I've typed ls and I get: (loop0), (hd0), and (hd0,1). I tried boot /vmlinuz, and I get "Error: no loaded kernel"; tried linux /vmlinuz, and I get "Error: wrong magic number". Not sure what else I should try. Does anyone have any advice to get my netbook up and running again? I'm back to Windows 7 Starter! (argh, argh, argh) Thanks in advance! Cheers, - Eric

Hi Eric It's been ages since I last recovered a broken boot loader ... but this article http://beginlinux.com/index.php/server_training/serv_admin_m/grub is how I have done it previously. -- Regards Gregory Machin +64211844347 www.linuxpro.co.nz www.linuxpro.co.za
