Re: [wlug] Wireless Internet Services in Hillcrest

I must ALSO say, that in the last 2 hours we have confirmed a location for trialing this service. By the end of this month, we shall be there with a definate answer on the reliability and quality of these connections. We would welcome people to come along and take a look at it themselves, before they actually go ahead with it. Also, we would be MORE than happy to colocate a server of this list free of charge. Community Servers and Mirrors would be encouraged, as we will be having heaps of spare, national bandwith. International will be slightly tight on initially but, as it all grows we won't have problems. Quite honestly, at something like $100+GST p/mth the deal is very very good. The pricing brackets are fairly simple. I'm willing to test this out now, using a JetStart Connection. If anyone would like to volunteer to pay around $1500+GST we will set them up on a 11 Meg Connection, sharing JetStart. However, the volunteer will :
Sahil, this is not a volunteer this is an *investor*. Investor != Customer.
a) Not have to pay for data whilst its on a JetStart Connection b) Not have to ay for data for the first 2 months when a Frame Relay is there.
So someone buys your radio gear for you *and* pays for the jetstart, and you don't charge them? Gee you're a nice bastard.
Does the person get the $1500 back, or do they get ownership of all the gear they bought?
Our charges will be quite simple. We will charge $100+GST per 2gb Incoming and 2gb Outgoing. We will ONLY bill by the gig and WILL NOT:
a) Bill by the meg b) Bill per 64k (unless it is a significant amount of 64k channels)
So if I transfer 2.0001 GB (I hope you're using 1024*1024*1024 bytes)
then you will charge me $200+gst ?
I don't think so!
I'm thinking this service will be of good quality. We should have anywhere upto 3 locations (which are fairly close by eachother) running as POPs. But, the service will definately be of a GOOD QUALITY.
Please tell me GOOD QUALITY doesn't mean 20 people with a 512k cap sharing a frame relay with a 2Mbit bearer and a 1Mbit CIR.
The good side of this service is that we will be able to supply Static (REAL WORLD) I.P. Addresses on the Wireless Link. The client would have to JUSTIFY them ofcourse. But, most of the time, we will give a SubNet of 8.
We don't exactly care as to what you do with the Wireless Link, as long as your bill is paid up on time.
Do I want to be on an ISP that happily hosts spammers?
