Hey all I had a problem with the "simple" install of Ubuntu Hoary which I thought was due to me not paying attention to the partitioning thus not including a swap space. However I retried the install and paid attention to what happened. Almost at the end of an otherwise uneventful install the programme said: "Ack! something bad happened trying to recover". Sadly ths was not the case much custard was developed. I guess this is a (no cay)nown problem but i did not read about it yet in my limited experience. Regards John

Would suggest you start again with a clean slate. Use Knoppix and QtParted to wipe current data and to create a swap partition. I have just put up a HowTo @ http://www.wlug.org.nz/UbuntuKbuntuInstall HTH Bill __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? Tired of spam? Yahoo!
