Personally I think the idea of 10-year plans are terrible for many reasons. Also seems a little incongruous with such a fast moving scene as OSS, 10 years from now who really knows what OSS will look like?

VirtualBox works well on Macs. Create a virtual machine and you're away. Haven't tried Linux, but I did set up Windows 8 on one Mac. It works well on other computers too!
