Hi I am trying to get my wifes computer set up on a wireless network, Ubuntu Edgy. I have a Dynalink / Netcom NP452 network card 88w8835 (libertas) chipset. I have set up the drivers with ndiswrapper. All seems OK except access point not associated, as below noi(a)noi-desktop:~$ sudo iwconfig lo no wireless extensions. wlan0 IEEE 802.11FH ESSID:off/any Mode:Managed Frequency:2.442 GHz Access Point: Not-Associated Bit Rate:1 Mb/s Sensitivity=-200 dBm RTS thr:2346 B Fragment thr:2346 B Encryption key:off Power Management:off Link Quality:0 Signal level:0 Noise level:0 Rx invalid nwid:0 Rx invalid crypt:0 Rx invalid frag:0 Tx excessive retries:0 Invalid misc:0 Missed beacon:0 Yes no signal shows up from the router (Dynalink RTA1025W) -- Linux based apparently :-) but doing a scan picks up two networks. Mine is the first one. noi(a)noi-desktop:~$ sudo iwlist wlan0 scan Password: wlan0 Scan completed : Cell 01 - Address: 00:16:E3:58:B2:54 ESSID:"Sompoi" Protocol:IEEE 802.11g Mode:Managed Frequency:2.442 GHz (Channel 7) Quality:0/100 Signal level:-91 dBm Noise level:-256 dBm Encryption key:off Bit Rates:1 Mb/s; 2 Mb/s; 5.5 Mb/s; 11 Mb/s; 18 Mb/s 24 Mb/s; 36 Mb/s; 54 Mb/s; 6 Mb/s; 9 Mb/s 12 Mb/s; 48 Mb/s Extra:bcn_int=100 Extra:atim=0 Cell 02 - Address: 00:14:78:F9:E5:96 ESSID:"TP-LINK" Protocol:IEEE 802.11g Mode:Managed Frequency:2.437 GHz (Channel 6) Quality:0/100 Signal level:-91 dBm Noise level:-256 dBm Encryption key:on Bit Rates:1 Mb/s; 2 Mb/s; 5.5 Mb/s; 11 Mb/s; 6 Mb/s 12 Mb/s; 24 Mb/s; 36 Mb/s; 9 Mb/s; 18 Mb/s 48 Mb/s; 54 Mb/s Extra:bcn_int=100 Extra:atim=0 I have updated the router firmware, I am not sure what to do next. Rather new to networking, particularly wireless. Any suggestions appreciated Regards David Bowen

Hi - is that a PCMCIA card? For the internal mini-PCMCIA card that came with my laptop (AMILO - Fujitsu-Siemens 64bit also running on Ubuntu Edgy) I had to build the acer_acpi module to activate the internal aerial - might be a red herring, but you never know => http://www.archernar.co.uk/acer_acpi/acer_acpi_main.html Cheers.
