I can't log into trademe and entering an URL dosen't work

Hi, I bought on disc the new version of Manjaro Plasma 64 bit KDE because the old Manjaro Illyria 18.0 64 bit I was using stopped working with various things. The new one won't allow me to log into tradme. I enter my email and password and it won't work just like the old one wouldn't. Plasma allows me to see pictures on tumblr whereas the old one stopped allowing that about 2 months ago. And youtube still works. But the new one has another big problem. For security issues I run a computer off a DVD and have no hard drive. When I want to go into any site that requires a password like email or trademe, this is what I do. I boot up, I pull up firefox, I type in the URL for trademe or what have you, and press enter, then and only then do I connect to the internet and click to 'retry' that site and then once at the site the first thing I do is log in. But this new Plasma won't allow me to do that. So could I please have some suggestions for two things: How to make this new one work in those two circumstances AND/OR Some specific names of Operating Systems that will actually allow logging into trademe and will allow URL's to be typed in. Thanks for any help.

What error messages are you getting? Can you start Firefox from the terminal (the executable is called "firefox"), attempt to log into trademe and see whether there are any error messages? Or are there any messages on the "Console" tab of the "Web developer tools" (Firefox menu -> More tools -> Web developer tools)? Note: first open the web dev tools and then try opening trademe. Can you install another browser, like Chromium, and try with that? NB: I haven't used CDs/DVDs in a very long time... Hi, At trademe, trademe itself comes up with: "Invalid email or password". What I then did was clear all history and tried again and it came up with a blank page that it was stuck on. The page started with in the url auth.trademe.co.nz, but it was long so I didn't write it all out. In the web developers tools there were two console options. I think one was browser and I tried that. But there was a lot so I didn't write it down. For security reasons I only have one site open that I have to login to. So I couldn't have both email and trademe open. If I want to go to both I go to one on bootup and go to the other another time when I boot up. I suppose maybe I could have two places ready on my screen and login into one and immediately try to login to the other. In my original post I talked about not being able to type in an URL directly. ie trying to go to a site and it wouldn't. I don't remember trying that, I presume it was with my email. I sent the first email to this post, I think from my old Operating System which I would have had to pop in again. But this I am typing from my new Operating System. But before I tried going here I went to the option up the top it has and changed a whole lot of stuff, so maybe that is why it might not have worked in the first place because presumably I didn't do that. Thanks for any help. On 2021-09-26 21:25, Peter Reutemann wrote:

Are you using any blockers, like NoScript or uBlock Origin? If that's the case, you need to allow at least these domains: trademe.co.nz fastly.net tmcdn.co.nz

Why don't you run two separate browsers? One session in Firefox, the other one in Chromium, then you can still copy/paste between the two. Have you had problems with other websites where a login is required? Firefox also supports running multiple user profiles at once, each with their own cookies, browsing history etc. I suppose other browsers are the same. And then there’s good old private browsing.

My reply might seem a bit late but I've been in bed with health issues for days. Thanks Lawrence. And Peter, I will have a look for NoScript and uBlock, I don't know if they are on this program. Could you please tell what fastly and tmcdn are? And as for having issues with other sites where a login is required there is one other site and that is newworld. At newworld I can login and put my items in the trolley but I can't select a time slot and therefore can't checkout on my own. Thanks for any help, Michelle. Some further details about shopping at newworld. When I try to get a timeslot it comes up with the days as usual but instead of having days available as usual it has every day as being booked. Thanks. On 2021-10-04 15:21, Michelle wrote:

Sorry to hear that.

These are firefox addons and, if you had them installed (they are not by default), could result in the website not working properly.
Could you please tell what fastly and tmcdn are?
fastly: a commonly used CDN (content delivery network; to speed up delivery of content to the client, https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Content_delivery_network) tmcdn: based on the name, that could be TradeMe's own CDN
And as for having issues with other sites where a login is required there is one other site and that is newworld. At newworld I can login and put my items in the trolley but I can't select a time slot and therefore can't checkout on my own.
Any errors that you are getting? Does Countdown's online shopping work for you? Cheers, Peter -- Peter Reutemann Dept. of Computer Science University of Waikato, NZ +64 (7) 858-5174 (office) +64 (7) 577-5304 (home office) http://www.cms.waikato.ac.nz/~fracpete/ http://www.data-mining.co.nz/

Thanks for trying to help Peter. What I would appreciate would be if people who use trademe or newworld, and either is working at present for them, could please tell me what Operating System and number they are using. Thanks for any help. On 2021-10-04 15:48, Peter Reutemann wrote:

Just logged in fine on trademe (Firefox 93, Linux Mint Mate 20.2 64bit). Cheers, Peter -- Peter Reutemann Dept. of Computer Science University of Waikato, NZ +64 (7) 858-5174 (office) +64 (7) 577-5304 (home office) http://www.cms.waikato.ac.nz/~fracpete/ http://www.data-mining.co.nz/

Created a USB stick from a live ISO image of Linux Mint Mate 20.2 64bit and logged into Trademe just fine using the default Firefox setup.
