Watch Out For Those USB Charging Ports!

Something else to worry about: the US FBI, and NZ CERT, are advising travellers not to use public USB charging ports, because they can be a way to hack into your device <https://www.nzherald.co.nz/travel/fbi-warns-travellers-not-to-use-public-charging-ports-at-airports-hotels/7KKRWJGZYZDSDBEQFJJBEBSZDM/>. When I was in Hong Kong Airport a few years ago, it was very hard for me to find a mains outlet to charge my laptop. Just about all the ports built into the public seating areas were USB ones, for phones/tablets.

The easiest solution is to use a usb cable that only allows charging, and no data transfer. This is the one I use https://www.amazon.com.au/VRORKV%C2%AE-Charging-Lighting-Universal-Smartphones/dp/B07RZBSBXW/ref=mp_s_a_1_7?crid=1GDGD7XA6GJHZ&keywords=charge+only+usb+cable&qid=1681278689&sprefix=Charge+only+u%2Caps%2C371&sr=8-7 On Wed, 12 Apr 2023, at 2:52 PM, Lawrence D'Oliveiro wrote:
