Re: [wlug] Slingshot dialup not authenticating

IIRC ... that unintelligble stuff is most likely something to do with the ppp pap/chap authentication dialogue ...

I had tried "stupid mode" with wvdial, both under Lighthouse Puppy and Suses 11.3. It worked with Xtra but not Slingshot. Minicom is indicating a much deeper problem ... almost looks like send/receive formats are not matching ... nothing "legible" comes back! When I get time I'll post info from minicom - but I've got other things to right at the moment.
Back home ... Here's the output from minicom. As you can see, Xtra (the first attempt) responded with a login prompt. Slingshot (second dial) responded with an unintelligible request. Any ideas? I've a suspicion one of the modem options may need tweaking ,,, but since this is only for a temporary solution, I don't want to spend too long trying them all.

Telecom's is plain text. I think it's more to do with speed or formatting, but must see if I can get more details of what is supposed to be happening. In the meantime the temporary workaround is a Windows box. (The bigger problem was a computer failure!) Michael
