Microsoft Announces Windows 10X

A report <https://www.theregister.co.uk/2020/02/12/microsoft_previews_windows_10x/> on major new changes coming to the architecture of Microsoft Windows. This includes locking up all Win32 apps, that is to say the majority of Windows apps (now considered “legacy”), in a sandbox where they are strictly limited in what they can do to your OS, and even your documents. Access by the user to these apps is constrained through a channel very similar to RDP, which is normally only used for remote access. Interesting to see that, in 2020, Microsoft is still battling “OS rot”, which computer humourist Verity Stob was making fun of nearly two decades ago.
