Sorry folks I forgot the "reply all" thing John ----- Message Forwarded on Wed 2/8/2006 ----- From: "" <jaytee(a)clear.net.nz> To: Ian McDonald <ian.mcdonald(a)jandi.co.nz>,Waikato Linux Users Group <wlug(a)list.waikato.ac.nz> Subject: Re: [wlug] IP address entry Date: Mon, 31 Jul 2006 12:21:35 +1200 Thank everyone Success! I started at the command line with the ip address but then I needed the subnet mask and the gateway so I took Ian's advise and used the gui. The plus is that I can switch back to DCHP really easily. Regards John
There are simpler ways to do this on Ubuntu. I can't remember the exact menu location but on my Debian (which is similar) it is Places, Administration, Networking and you can do it all using the GUI with a minimum of fuss.
