I'm not meaning to stir or be a pest; I just don't understand why any mail client in use today would not support HTML; or why people would turn it off? Surely, unless you're using OE, security isn't a problem.
Ummm, you're missing several other security issues. An example would be the exploit that is available via GIF images. My modern eMail reader (copyright 2004) doesn't display images that aren't included in the eMail as an attachment. This is a security feature. But, my eMail program is free, and is written by a NZ'er
People seem to manage browsing the web without issues, and that's a far less controlled and predictable environment than email.
That all depends on which web browser you use......but that's a seperate flame war. --- David G King : d_king(a)xtra.co.nz zl1dgk(a)nzart.org.nz ZL1DGK http://dking.gen.nz http://freet.blogspot.com

I wouldn't take HTML in email as far as images anyway. HTML is simply for styling better than plaintext can allow; not for building a website and then sending it to someone :) Images should be attached if they are required. d_king(a)xtra.co.nz wrote:

Oh no, you're not using Pegasus Mail are you. Written by Mr "I don't think Open Source produces good code". David Harris needs to take his head out of his arse and look around. If the Open Source development model didn't produce good code we wouldn't have Linux or a litany of other excellent open source software. Mr Harris seems to think that if he didn't write it then it can't be very good. The guy seems to have an ego the size of a planet. On a second reading of his website he seems to have toned it down a little. And I have no problems with people using it if they like it, but the author seems to suffer from a major case of "Not Invented Here" syndrome.
