Hi From Morrinsville

Hi Wlug, I represent two Linux newbies in Morrinsville. We have Ubuntu and Open Suse going but no modem and a trial version of Xandros going on another machine with no modem problems. In the medium term I want to get a C IDE like Ajuta going to do some C programming. Does anyone want to do some handholding for us by email? Hey, Good to see some other Morrinsville folk are using linux (lived there before moving to Hamilton for uni). Good luck with your ventures, your best help for assistance would be to go on irc, the wlug channel (#wlug on undernet) among others are one of the best resources especially if speed of responce is a factor.

Hi Ronnie, Thanks for that. However I don't even know what an irc (internet relay channel) is and how to use it. Also what the # stands for and what undernet is. This is a good starting point: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Internet_Relay_Chat Our page here is not so good: http://www.wlug.org.nz/IRC There is link from the Undernet page on the wlug wiki to this: http://www.undernet.org/webchat.php I just tried it. It works. Best, John Robert D Davidson wrote:
