Hello, The company I work for is about >< this close to setting up Openfiler as a file server. The IT guys have setup 1.1 and liked what they saw but were waiting for OpenFiler 2 to be released as stable for use. It is now, so our IT guy downloaded the ISO file, cut it to CD but it won't boot. He came to me and I suggested that we check the md5sum to verify the image. I've looked high and low on the site, googlged around, searched wikis and mailing lists and even hooked on to a few mirror sites to see if I could find a text file with the md5sum. But I am stuck for an answer on this one short of posting to the openfiler discussion list. Any other suggestions? Cheers Chris

I presume you've tried the following? - try on other machines to verify that it is not the machine hardware - reburnt the CD in case it was a glitch? - redownloaded the ISO and burnt - preferably on another machine - had a look at the CD to see if it has a valid filesystem by just putting it into a running Linux bo? Persuaded the OpenFiler crew to post the md5sum to their wiki. They did after two emails. Downloaded the 240Mg iso. Checked the md5sum. It matched. Burnt the iso. Openfiler (based on CentOS ie Red Hat Derivative) is now installed on a server at work waiting to be configured tommorrow morning. My linux skills eased a few concerns at the install phase. Linux is now an officially recognised operating system in my company IT strategy thanks to my efforts. Mostly because I managed to get the Cisco VPN client working on my home computer allowing me to remote login onto a Windows Terminal Server and now this linux based file server is being installed to ease the load on the existing Windows Servers.
