Hi Matt, You can do this with dpkg-scanpackages, and then you put a line like deb file:/path/to/.deb/files icantrememberwhatthisdoes/ in your /etc/apt/sources.list or something like that. Another (much better IMO) solution for the future is to use apt-proxy, it has some nice features for automatically keeping your archive dir clean. g Matt Brown wrote:
Hi All,
I have a package archive that apt has built on my debian box over a few months of use etc, I am now installing a new machine and want it to use those packages as a repository so I don't have to download all ~400MB again over my 56k modem.
I heard rumours about a tool that put these packages into a format the apt/deselect would recognise and access from another computer - is this true? Can anyone tell me how I might do this?
Thanks
Matt
