Paul Hunt, our Chief Human Rights Commissioner is not so keen on Justice Minister Kiri Allan’s proposals on hate speech legislation, saying “We do need controls, we do need checks, we do need independent accountability but not rendering the information unlawful, unless it reaches that far end of the spectrum.” according to <https://www.nzherald.co.nz/nz/politics/disinformation-should-be-regulated-but-not-outlawed-human-rights-commission/R7PQO3AI7FB4LD6EKMFOQYJNTE/>. Internal Affairs Minister Jan Tinetti has been looking at how Finland has had some success in keeping its young people aware of misinformation and disinformation online, to see if something similar could be done here.
