Just in case you're getting ready to turn up tonight - it's on Wednesday and will feature RuralLink and the OLPC. -- Web: http://wand.net.nz/~iam4/ Blog: http://iansblog.jandi.co.nz WAND Network Research Group

And here are some more details - in case people aren't aware of what these things mean (sorry about that). WLUG will be having a meeting where Dr Murray Pearson will be presenting on the RuralLink project which is providing Internet for remote people and also the OLPC project. OLPC stands for One Laptop Per Child. This project is building a laptop for students running Linux and costing around US$100-$200. It has a whole lot of innovation like low power consumption, new user interface (Sugar), tickless operation etc. We will have one of these laptops at the meeting in operational state.
