My personal opinion on this is that I think the FSF has stuffed up. Microsoft has given out coupons and can quite legitimately restrict which software that can be purchased with them. They understand that GPLv3 would hurt them and so they are choosing not to sell/give away GPL3 software. Linus Torvalds has made exactly the same choice, and for much the same reasons. He believes that the GPLv3 adds RESTRICTIONS on use of software, not FREEDOMS. (Emphasis mine). As always people are free to use whichever license they prefer.
