Hi Folks Am on the scrounge here We've had to send a drive off for data recovery. However it's a relatively recent model and the data recovery company has no parts for it, they need the heads. Therefore we are looking for a 'doner' drive that matches the following: Western Digital Caviar SATA 80GB Model: WD800JD - 60LSA0 (Last 6 Digits MUST be exact) Date of Manufacture: 16 OCT 2005 (give or take 1 month) We're willing to pay for a replacement. Does anyone have one of these lying around spare? Um yes, but wouldn't help with the data recovery side of things Sorry we have looked and only have the PATA versions, on the other hand did you try ringing the Dick Smith stores, I think they did sell these and might be able to locate one, I am sure they would be happy to sell you one. Bu then you don't have the faulty drive to recover data from. Catch 22. -- Ian McDonald Web: http://wand.net.nz/~iam4 Blog: http://imcdnzl.blogspot.com WAND Network Research Group Department of Computer Science University of Waikato New Zealand

Sorry, I wasn't thinking that they would let you keep the old hard drive too. I always had to give the faulty one back, of course once its been opened to try and recover the data, they claimed the warranty was invalidated, But I suppose calling the WD support people might be worth a try. Anythings is possible if you only believe hard enough. I just lack that sort of faith. Gun Caundle wrote:

The warranty side of things has been sorted. I've got the replacement already but it's the wrong revision. We need the exact revision type which is the '60LSA0' part of the model number. Hadn't thought of Dick Smith. Will give them a shot Cheers Jodi ___________________________________________________ Jodi Thomson, Mr (BA, A+, MCP) IT Support Engineer - Turbo Investments Group Ltd Phone: +64 6 834-0537 ext 1008 cell: +64 21 799 961 jodi.thomson(a)turbogroup.co.nz "Right now I'm having amnesia and deja vu at the same time.
