I have a Cyrus21 imap/pop3 server which is getting emails alright, you can create subfolders and shift email around, but you put emails into sent items... With Outlook Express, which is what *the customer* is using, you get this error... Some of the messages in your Outbox Folder could not be copied to your Sent Items Folder. Your message could not be uploaded to the IMAP server. The server refused to accept it. Subject 'Fw: Cron <amavis-stats(a)celaeno> [ -x /usr/sbin/amavis-stats ] && /usr/sbin/amavis-stats /var/log/mail.info', Account: 'Lindsay Druett', Server: 'mail.gateway-net.com', Protocol: IMAP, Server Response: 'Permission denied', Port: 143, Secure(SSL): No, Error Number: 0x800CCCD2 With Mozilla, whihc is what *I* use, you get a similar error. Any ideas ? IIRC correctly, the issue will be that Outlook(express)? will be trying to copy it to where it thinks the Sent Items folder is, at the top level, which the users likely doesnt have access to create folders at You most likely need to tell Outlook that the root folder is INBOX YMMV

Lindsay, This permission denied error is caused because the mail client is asking the server to create a new folder as a sibling of the INBOX. Cyrus wont let you create folders as siblings. But will let you create them as children. To tell Outlook Express this opent he properties for the Imap account. Click on the IMAP tab and put "INBOX." in as the root folder. That is from memory, I don't have Outlook Express available to confirm that. I would also rename the Sent Items folder name to "Sent-Items" as some Imap clients don't seem to like spaces in the folder name. Lindsay Druett wrote:

Hey Thanks Raymond, That was the ticket, they're much happier now :) Just one other thing... Sometimes it takes a couple of attempts to purge the deleted items, any reason why ?
