
You should be able to, although it might be a good idea to check out a Linux hardware compatability list (url, anyone?). Otherwise it could be that the X server is bombing out, in which case it should be leaving error messages for you. I am trying to install Mandrake 8.0 onto a Toshiba Satellite 4000 cds laptop computer and am having a little trouble. I have it working but it only seems to be installed as text. Somebody told me yesterday that this particular laptop may not be compatible with linux. I have it dual booting with windows 98 on a 233 pentium 2 processor with 64mb ram. It has a Chips & Technologies 65555 PCI [Display adapter] Can anyone tell me if I should be able to install Linux on it and how do I make Mandrake install something that looks similar to windows.
