I am trying to set up Mandrake Move (Live CD). Several things I dont seem to be unable to accomplish at this stage. 1) Cant set up an Internet connection. I have used the default selections (selected radio buttons). I have an IHUG account for the purpose. I had difficulty finding out where my modem was attached (Windows says Com3). I get this error message 'An unexpected error has happened: output in file /usr/share/config/Kppprc failed: read only file system.' 2) My USB Key is connected, but cant seem to save settings to that at present. It shows up in Konquerer but not in the File Manager (Ksomething or the other). In Konquerer, it will not permit me to copy files from Key to Floppy. Does floppy have to be formatted in special format for that? Konquerer reads the floppy formatted in Dos ok, for I put some text files on it to test. Thats enough for one day I think. Cheers Linz

This is because you're running a LiveCD version of linux. Not having used Mandrake Move, I've not got any suggestions on how to fix it, other than having a look for a different program to configure your internet connection. If your modem is on com3 under windows, that corresponds to /dev/ttyS2 under linux, in case you're ever asked to specifiy which port it is on. However, many current modems require special drivers to work under linux. There's no easy way of talking you through diagnosing this - the only thing would be if you could find the manufacturer name and model number for the modem.

Your floppy will be fine if it's formatted in DOS or windows. In order to copy to it, you might have to mount the floppy drive first. Try right-clicking on the floppy icon and seeing if there is a 'mount' option there.
