Fwd: Re: [wlug] Gentoo install

Sorry Daniel did not mean to reply to you only This is another possible problem! nano -w /mnt/gentoo/etc/make.conf I have a PENTIUM3 processor so am writing, CFLAGS="-march=pentium3 -pipe -O2 -fomit-frame-pointer #-mcpu686 has been deleted by me as I thought it was causing a conflict CXXFLAGS="${CFLAGS}" #CHOST is unchanged as per the warning! #I am assuming this to mean exactly the same for CXXFLAGS as CFLAGS MAKEOPTS="j2" <control X then enter> Does this appear to be correct?? Regards John
The section you referred to did not exist when I installed gentoo. While it is not marked as an optional section, I'd say it is optional - you may find compilation takes a bit longer if you have multiple locales, but it definitely won't kill anything.
