I am interseted to learn what is under the hood of linux installation. In particular, partitioning a hardisk. And dual boot system.

Thanks to all who have offered to help, Not bad for a group "turning their backs on newbies" but I am in the incredible position where we have about 5 willing to help and about 2 wanting help. I'm all for low student/teacher ratios but 3 teachers per student seem a little excessive.
Well watch and see, but at present this looks like a small group, and easy to run.
What we might do however is have a night/whatever where several different distos are presented and the user explaining why he/she/it likes that particular distro. I'm sure you would be a good rep for mandrake.
Thanks for all the hands up we have had, but really I need to know how many would like to learn from scratch about linux.
