Yay! Problem fixed. My suspicion (I think) turned out to be the problem. Used Knoppix (root) dd count=1 if=/dev/hdb1 of=/mnt/floppy/hdb1new.mbr Then copied hdb1new.mbr into the Windows partition, added a new line to boot.ini, and we're away again. Following last night's update to this version, GRUB no longer boots. Screen says "GRUB" and goes no further.

GRUB is on my slave disk, and I normally boot via Windows loader on master. I suspect that the boot sector on the slave drive has been modified ... the windows loader runs a copy of the that sector (copied following the upgrade to Fedora Core 2).

This is the first time I've had this problem after an update.
