Rasbian now has its own desktop environment called PIXEL https://www.raspberrypi.org/magpi/introducing-pixel/ Considering I'm already demonstrating android on raspberry pi, we may as well have a look at this new interface if we have time. Can I ask people to bring their old, unused micro SD cards; Iv got one but its already been written to with dd a few times, and I don't know how much life is left in it. -- Kind Regards Rowan Schischka

Hi Rowan,
Can I ask people to bring their old, unused micro SD cards
I'll bring along a 16GB microSD Card (plus its SD caddie). I recollect it has a May 2016 release of Raspbian on it at the mo. I can update it to the latest Raspbian, or if you'd like to send me the pointer to another distro for R-Pi then I'll load that onto it before the meeting. I'll also bring a 2m HDMI to HDMI and a 3m HDMI to DVI for plugging the R-Pi into the video projector. If someone can bring along an HDMI cable in the 5m to 10m length, then that would be appreciated and Rowan can present more from the front of the classroom than directly underneath the video projector. Plus I'll bring a power cord. Do you need audio? I don't think we've ever tried to see if the video projector, with data fed into its HDMI input, will produce audio. There is probably 3.5mm or RCA audio input sockets on the back of the video projector. I'll bring some audio cables and we might be able to get audio going if required. cheers, Ian.
