Waikato Linux Users Group Software Freedom Day - Request for Participation

Waikato Linux Users Group plan to hold a Software Freedom Day public event at the Galagher meeting rooms, Wintec Central Hamilton Campus on Saturday September 19th, 2009. Last year's event (held at Waikato University) was a great success and a lot of fun. This year we expect the event to be bigger, and even more fun! If you're contributing to Free software, providing support for Free software or doing something interesting using free software and you'd like to display what you're doing the general public, software Freedom Day is an ideal opportunity for this and we'd like you to be involved. Please contact myself or any of the WLUG committee and we'll set aside some space for you. We also have a presentation room available if you'd like to schedule a short presentation sometime during the day. Also feel free to forward this announcement to anyone else who may be interested and isn't on the mailing lists I've sent this to. A few of us will be volunteering at eDay on 12th September. http://eday.org.nz/component/content/article/31.html The WLUG Committee is making up some flyers for SFD and copies of the OpenDisc, or a custom version of it, to distribute. We need some volunteers, who would just want greet people and hand out the flyer and ask them if they would like the disc and give them a quick synopsis of the event if they ask. Most of us will be busy with carting around the old equipment, and if you don't believe it's a dirty job: http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3234/2917626571_70175d76a8_b.jpg So if your not so keen on heavy lifting but would like to help out, please consider volunteering for this important job! Let Bruce or me know if your available. Thanks, John Bruce Kingsbury wrote:
