Hi there I had problems on my MSI Wind U100 work laptop running Ubuntu 9.04 getting sound to work in Skype (video was working out of the box). Knowing that pulseaudio behaved erratic on my Dell's Intel chipset under 8.10 (sound just disappeared after a day - only solution that worked was to reboot!), I attempted to turn off pulseaudio as well.
