Hi All I got it wrong, just did some reading at Wikipedia and I have got a PCI modem and not a serial modem..apologies. I have a SpeedCom HP156M3 Internal PCI 2 Wire ISDN Modem. I did a google search but couldnt find any drivers for Linux. Does anyone know where I might find some, or is the modem just a winmodem and thats all? Glenn Morrissey.

Not sure if you want to spend money, however, if you do this modem clains to ahve linux support http://www.dse.co.nz/cgi-bin/dse.storefront/4902f1dd03155190273fc0a87f3b0678... from DSE $49 On Sat, Oct 25, 2008 at 11:12 PM, Glenn Stuart Morrissey < gmorrissey(a)kol.co.nz> wrote:

Thanks Andrew If I cant get this modem to work in Linux then I am going to have to get a new one. Though it is a touch dissapointing that brand new hardware can't or won't work with Linux. The date of manufacture on the modem is 7 April 2008. Glenn.

After giving the internet a poke with a big stick, this may help http://www.bioticaindia.com/hp156m3.html On Sat, Oct 25, 2008 at 11:28 PM, Glenn Stuart Morrissey < gmorrissey(a)kol.co.nz> wrote:

If it actually is an ISDN modem, then it's unlikely to be of any use to as you probably don't have an ISDN service Could you please open up a terminal (probably in the 'accesories' menu), and run these commands lspci lsusb then copy and paste the result of these commands into a reply to the list, thanks
