Laptop not connecting to wired Internet

I have an Acer 5315 Laptop and am running Jaunty 64 bit I did some upgrades and now it won't connect to the wired Internet . However when I run the live cd it connects . How do I diagnose the problem ? -- Ron Dean 2 Shannon Place Nawton Hamilton Ph 8493904

If you could please give us the output, of the command ifconfig -a, and the route command, along with the IP of your router. Should give us a good indication of where to start.

Ok, the ifconfig command isnt showing an ethernet port interface, try bringing it up manually by using sudo ifconfig eth0 up. Post any errors and/or the new ouput of ifconfig -a

ifconfig -a shows all existing interfaces, even if they're not up. Ron: can you send the output of "sudo lspci" please? this will list all devices on your system, and will help with diagnosing the problem with your network. Have you rebooted since running the updates?
