It's just the basic workstation, no drives, 4M RAM installed (one bank was bad, and I didn't have any spare chips.. If you have spare 1M simms there's room for 32M inside) Also I've got an apparently-working SPARCstation with some kind of solaris installed; Perry lost the monitor cable and I haven't been able to find another one. I've been told it should work fine with serial console. You might be able to set up BOOTP/TFTP on it to boot the other box. 44 Banbury Cres. Hi All, sorry, the SYnoptics units are gone, other stuff is remaining if anyone is interested. Sorry i was not replying, I have been very busy over the last two days, not to mention my machine was busy emerging the OS, xfree, gnome, evolution before I could actually use it. So you installed Gentoo Linux ? There is a 2-CD set of Gentoo, based on the GRP (Gentoo Reference Platform) which has pre-compiled binaries for a decent base system - including XFree, GNOME, Evolution, etc. Saves a *lot* of time, although the documentation is a wee bit lacking (you have to set your USE flags to something that isn't the default before it'll actually consider using the packages). Saved me a lot of time last time I installed Gentoo (about two weeks ago) - the base install was bootstrapped off the main CD, and then all the bigger packages were installed off the package CD. I then promptly changed to unstable and re-built everything anyway, but I had a working system to start from at least.

Ummm - Still no replies, Does anyone know andrews phone number or other contact to let him know I am chasing him, Off -list only of course. On Sat, 2003-10-04 at 16:10, Andrew Thrift @ Home wrote:
