But when *creating* a video, wouldn’t it be appropriate for someone promoting free software to use *anything* *other* than Windows Media for the purpose? I’m not even saying to use Ogg Theora; use MPEG4 or H.263 if you want. They have wide coverage of codecs on all operating systems and they’re open standards.
We didn't digitise the video, this was done by a commercial company who do lots of video streaming, etc. We do, however, own the copyright on the video, so I assume we have the legal right to transcode it to another format and make that publicly available, although we don't have the bandwidth available that r2.co.nz do.
