Hi For those of you who can read German and grabbed it while it was still available (it has been taken down since), the difference between the Limux study and the Microsoft study is largely that the Limux study does assume licence costs are payable to Microsoft, both for new computers purchased, and to upgrade old Windows versions. The Microsoft study does not . . . If they had, they would have to make public how much rebate Microsoft is willing to give to large customers. So we get fed partial information . . . "As previously reported on Slashdot, in November of last year, the city of Munich reported savings of over €10 million from its switch to Linux. Microsoft subsequently commissioned a study (conducted by HP) that found that, in fact, 'Munich would have saved €43.7 million if it had stuck with Microsoft.' Now, Microsoft has said it won't release the study, saying that '[it] was commissioned by Microsoft to HP Consulting for internal purposes only.'"
