
I've seen the same error before too. My wife's win2k machine has it's own modem in case the linux dialup box goes down. Took a while to figure out what was going on but I had both modems plugged into the same jack. As soon as I unplugged her modem pppd ran as usual Wierd Jodi On Mon, 2004-06-28 at 08:33, John R. This is apparently the culprit: seems like the serial line (or the modem?) is not correctly configured (line speed, data bits, stop bits, and whatever else there was).
