Hi.

From a business point of view I with the haters. The life cycle is to short and the changes are to radical. I'll be looking at the new LTS version that now has 5 year life cycle, but I'm still skeptical of Ubuntu in Enterprise environment.

I don't know if I qualify for the moniker "geek type"!

Personally, I tend to "go with the flow". Life's too short to worry
about trying to make your OS do what previous ones did. Perhaps my
attitude is a result of changing OS every 6 months and not wanting to
spend time tweaking.

I see some improvements in the latest version of Unity ... the
right-click options.

I've got no problem recommending Ubuntu for anyone who wants a "no
fuss" computer system. It works well for those that class themselves
as technophobes.
