You’ve heard of OpenStreetMap, the (very popular) project to compile mapping information for the whole world under a freely shareable, open licence; now there is OpenStreetView, which attempts to do the same for street-level photos <http://www.theregister.co.uk/2016/12/14/open_source_insider_openstreetview_takes_on_google/>.
