It's my understanding that this is a SERIAL modem (I did a google search on the model number) If that's the case, setting it up should be trivially easy and should not require the scanmodem tool... 2009/7/26 Robert D Davidson <robert(a)datamatrix.co.nz>:
Hi Simon,
We looked up the link you provided and now can't find the "Scanmodem" tool it refers to under setting up modems without drivers. Do you know where it is in Ubuntu?
Cheers
Robert

Hi WLUG,
We are now the proud owners of a Netcom Mega I Modem which is proportadly Linux Compatible. I have connected it up physically and have some light on and we can see the drivers in our 64 bit Ubuntu 8 operating system.
However how do we run the files. There is an exe file therre called setport.exe which looks like it might be useful be we don't know how to run it.
Hi Robert,
The .exe file will be for Windows, so you won't need that. The Ubuntu Community wiki has some helpful information on configuring your modem. I'm assuming that you are wanting to use it to content to the Internet or some other online service.

If you are still having problems, WLUG are having their monthly workshop next Saturday. See the WLUG webpage for more information.
