Hi Noel The advise I have been given is no cmos battery no boot but I am unsure of the facts in that regard. The cmos battery has been dying for some time as the rtc needed to be reset when ever I allowed the main battery to go flat There is a (10) battery available at Ebay but I was hoping for something local. John,
I bought mine from Ebay. The item was shipped from Hongkong and it took two weeks to arrive.
The plastic connector broke in mine and so I have to replace the whole thing. In your case, you should be able to just replace the battery.
I may be wrong for your specific laptop but I thought you could still boot a laptop even with no cmos battery. If you could not then the problem may be something else.
