I wondered what happened to OpenCL, but it turns out this is actually built on that. From the API reference guide: SYCLâ„¢ is a C++ programming model for OpenCL which builds on the underlying concepts, portability, and efficiency of OpenCL while adding much of the ease of use and flexibility of C++.
