Before getting in touch with the DSE guy..
Thanks to all who offered to attend and assist with this. For those who asked about timetables, we would like to have people present to offer advise and demonstrate OSS/Linux between 10am and 4pm on Saturday 17th and Sunday 18th July. As it is difficult to make extra space, we will need to use the computers on display in the store which will mean using Knoppix or similar distro which runs from CD. We will be giving away free Open Office.org and Knoppix CDs to customers who attend. We will be advertising this event in the newspaper and it would be good to include your logos if possible, please advise on this or send to me off-list. We also have facilities to photocopy A4 DLE type brochures if you provide me with a PDF or OO.o doc of your brochure we can produce them for you.
Knoppix, being built on Debian, has never had "looks nice" as a strong point. Matt's WLUG Knoppix fixed it at least a little by using truetype fonts, but it's not exactly nice. Would I be right in assuming that MandrakeMove was probably the best? If not, what else would we want to show off in a situation where first impressions mean everything? http://www.distrowatch.com/?newsid=01674#0 links Basilisk Linux, a live CD based on Fedora Core 2: it seems like it's KDE though, I of course would like to see one based on GNOME.
