Best idea is to take an Ubuntu live CD into the shop and try it in the laptop you're wanting to purchase.

Or ignore the built in wireless, and: * upgrade the MiniPCI card (possibly expensive) * buy an external wireless card ($60-100NZ-ish?) Craig
