By the way, a few minutes with the “Web Developer → Network” pane in Firefox on this page <https://www.theedge.co.nz/home/shows/watch-now.html> reveals the following as the URL for the video stream: <https://livestreamdirect-edgetv.mediaworks.nz/edgetv_3.m3u8>.
Copying and pasting this into VLC, just for example, works OK, though it reveals the video resolution as 768×432 -- not quite HD.
If I rebuild my FFmpeg installation with support for https:// URLs, I could probably use that on it as well.
Using ffplay on my Linux Mint 19.1 worked out of the box: ffplay https://livestreamdirect-edgetv.mediaworks.nz/edgetv_3.m3u8 Cheers, Peter -- Peter Reutemann Dept. of Computer Science University of Waikato, NZ +64 (7) 858-5174 http://www.cms.waikato.ac.nz/~fracpete/ http://www.data-mining.co.nz/
