I am having a problem with the modem dropping while connecting to the net. (ihug) This is an Intel 536 modem on Mandrake 10.1 It dials, says expecting connect, then, starting pppd, and a few seconds later the modem drops the line, and some seconds later a dialogue box comes up and says Kpppd daemon died unexpectedly error 17
I could try Ubuntu, Just installed that at home, Suse on this would one be my other option :-)
If you want to try Ubuntu, I wrote a script to get this modem set up under it which you may find handy. Of course, I make no guarantees regarding my scripting abilities... Regards, Bnonn
