Four of Europe’s largest telcos are banding together to create their own targeted-ad network, to compete against Facebook and Google <https://www.theregister.com/2023/02/13/european_carrier_adtech_jv_approved/>. The difference being, this will be GDPR-compliant, by asking would-be ad recipients to opt in by giving their phone numbers. Will it work? Will there be sufficient people who _want_ to see ads to make it worthwhile?
