Like many in the Linux community, I remove Windows from laptop's and install Linux distro's. As a part of performing this task I also scrape the Microsoft sticky labels off the laptop. This includes the rather stubborn-to-remove, Microsoft Product Key sticker.
For removing sticky adhesive labels, let me mention a product I first discovered back in the days when I was frequently replacing 3½-inch floppy-disk labels: it’s called “De-Solv-It”. It’s citrus-based, feels slightly oily, smells like orange peel, and is non-toxic. Spread some over the label so the whole thing is wet, give it a few minutes to penetrate thoroughly, and then you will find it’s much easier to remove, and will likely even come off in one piece. I think it’s on sale in supermarkets.
