Had a few problems with that ... but I'm not going to pursue it further because of the probability of moving to Ubuntu
Following software updates I did on Wednesday, cups refused to start (cups was among the updates). Remote assistance from a family member (he likes puzzles!) gave me a work around - involved changing ownership of files and changes to cupsd.conf, and then running cupsd in foreground.
Sounds odd, do you have any logs ?
Only error message was on start-up screen (and it didn't show up in dmesg) ... "error while loading shared libraries: libgcrypt.so.11: cannot enable executable stack as shared object requires: permission denied"
Adobe Reader no longer runs - but I haven't bothered to chase that one up as there are alternatives.
Do you have compat-libstdc++-33 insstalled? Acrobat reader needs this.
Yes I'm not worried about the problems because I'll try Ubuntu - the problems are an incentive for that! (It'll be a fair bit of work, shoving data around and changing partitions - lots more for me to learn) Thanks for your suggestions. Michael
